Kohima: The Nagaland State Legal Services Authority (NSLSA) was adjudged the ‘zonal best state legal services authority’ in a commendation ceremony held at the Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi on Saturday. The state authority was given the recognition based on its new initiatives of creating its own theme song and creating awareness through active participation in carrying out action plans.
Additionally, Tingkai Konyak from Mon district was given the ‘best zonal para legal volunteer’ for his exemplary services. The commendation ceremony was organised by the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) under the aegis of the Supreme Court of India to acknowledge the exemplary work done in the areas of equality and justice.
Awards were given to the national and zonal best state legal services authority, best district legal services authority, best panel lawyer and best para legal volunteers.
In the ceremony, Nagaland was represented by Justice N Kotiswar Singh, Gauhati High Court judge and executive chairman of NSLSA; Mezivolu T Therieh, member secretary of NSLSA; Niechochiyi Suyie, district & sessions judge, Zunheboto, and chairman of ZDLSA (representing State Best DLSA 2018); Atoka Achumi, civil judge (jr), Dimapur (representing State Best DLSA 2018); Sunjib Rana, panel lawyer, KDLSA (State Best Panel Lawyer 2018); Tingkai Konyak, para-legal volunteer, MDLSA (State Best PLV 2018).
