Pakke-Kessang becomes 25th district of Arunachal Pradesh

The new administrative division, carved out of East Kameng district, was inaugurated by CM Pema Khandu on Friday

Itanagar: The long-pending demands of the people of Pakke-Kessang were fulfilled when chief minister Pema Khandu inaugurated it as the 25th district of Arunachal Pradesh on Friday.

Unveiling the vision statement of Pakke-Kessang after the inauguration, the CM said that the rule of law, discipline, equality, brotherhood, peace, social harmony, progress and prosperity shall prevail in the new district.

State chief secretary Satya Gopal handed over the district flag to Pakke-Kessang deputy commissioner Tammuna Messar in a public function organised to celebrate the creation of the new district. IGP Sunil Garg handed over the ceremonial flag to the new district SP Jimmy Chiram.

Congratulating the people of the newly formed district, the CM recalled the contribution of all former local public leaders, Nyishi Elite Society and other Nyishi organisations. On the occasion, Khandu also remembered former minister Dera Natung who had also contributed immensely for this day.

Union minister of state for home Kiren Rijiju, senior ministers of the state government and MLAs also took part in the inauguration ceremony, among many others.
