Around 36 aspiring models, both men and women, from across the region to vie for the top spot in the first edition of the beauty and fashion event to be held in Guwahati
Guwahati: Guwahati is all set to host the grand finale of ‘TRENDSETTER 2018’, not just a beauty pageant but a face hunt and a fashion event presented by Trends, the lifestyle retail chain of Reliance Industries and managed by Trident Brandcom. This is the first edition of the pageant, and offers the winners to become the face of the brand. Around 36 aspiring models, both males and females, from across Northeast and North Bengal have been shortlisted for the finale after several rounds of auditions.
The finale is scheduled to take place on December 8 at Pragjyotish ITA Centre in Guwahati. And, the seven jury members who will be judging the contestants and deciding their fate so far as the contest is concerned, include big names from the fashion industry – Prashant Ghosh, Roshni Hassan, Nupur Saigal, Tanmoy Saikia, Barsha Aditya Singh, Sumita Dey Deka and Ushmita Dey. The contestants have been undergoing grooming sessions by ace fashion choreographer Meenu Paul, who is also the official groomer and choreographer for the contest.
Apart from the face hunt and the coveted TRENDSETTER title, which will be bestowed upon the winners, the competition also comprises of four sub-categories, including TRENDSETTER Personality, TRENDSETTER Photogenic, TRENDSETTER Hipster, TRENDSETTER Digital Diva/Divo.
Speaking to EastMoko, Sudha Laskar, managing partner, Trident Brandcom, said, “We held auditions in more than 16 locations of Northeast and North Bengal, and we received around 700 applications from interested contestants. After rigorous scrutiny we finalised on the 36 finalists”
She added, “TRENDSETTER is not just about good looks, height and size, but also about attitude and confidence, which sets this pageant apart from other competitions. We are not just looking for a beautiful face, but a trendsetter”
Talking about the quality of the contestants, Meenu Paul mentioned, “The panel has chosen a good mix of contestants with each one having its own USP. And, I hope they perform well in the finale, as this is a great platform for aspiring models to reach new heights in the fashion industry.”
The contest has not kept a bar on married or unmarried contestants, anyone within the age group of 16-26 has been able to participate in the beauty pageant.
Nitin Medhiratta, Operation Head- East 2, Trends said, “TRENSETTER is an initiative by Trends to promote fashion in the Northeast, and we have expanded our wings to North Bengal as well. We are happy with the response, and plan on taking it further in the future.”
