Union minister Kiren Rijiju dedicates upgraded hospital to local residents, participates in first full-fledged state cabinet meeting held in district
Kiphire: Asserting that Kiphire would soon see a beacon of development, Union minister of state for home Kiren Rijiju said it was indeed a red-letter day for the people of Kiphire to have hosted a full-fledged state cabinet meeting in the remote district of Nagaland.
Rijiju took part as a special invitee in the cabinet meeting which adopted the ‘Kiphire Declaration’. As part of the declaration, the state government will focus on various issues for development of Kiphire. A corpus fund of Rs 1 crore will also be formed to meet developmental gaps in the district.
Earlier on Friday, Rijiju inaugurated an upgraded hospital at Kiphire. Congratulating the people of Kiphire, the Union minister hoped that the hospital would provide better healthcare and urged them not only to fully utilise the upgraded facilities and infrastructure, but also take ownership of it.
The minister further maintained that the people of hills were gifted with good health in comparison with their counterparts in plain areas. He, however, observed that some food habits of the hill people were unhealthy and called upon them to inculcate good food habits.
Nagaland CM Neiphiu Rio, who was present on the occasion, thanked Rijiju for accepting the invitation to attend the cabinet meeting at Kiphire. He also congratulated the health department, particularly doctors and nurses, for the new building. “People of Kiphire will have access to better healthcare with upgraded facilities and infrastructure,” he added.
