Kohima: Kohima, the capital city of Nagaland, has been declared first among the ‘promising cities’ in the frequency of using public transport, as per a new ‘Ease of Moving Index 2018’ released by Ola Mobility Institute, the research and the outreach arm of ride-sharing firm Ola.
The report was released by Union minister Nitin Gadkari in New Delhi on Friday. Scale, character, culture, economy and geography were the five parameters for the selection of cities.
The study reportedly sought to offer a comprehensive action plan for cities to strengthen their public transportation system and improve the overall state of mobility. The index offered insight into mobility preferences and aspirations of Indian commuters across 20 cities with a population of over 92 million.
In an effort to lay groundwork for building a sustainable mobility ecosystem, the report benchmarked cities on the services offered, infrastructure and sustainability of mobility options. The study further assessed accessibility, efficiency and safety of current transportation facilities.
