Kohima: Three Naga youths have been conferred with the first Entrepreneurs Associates Innovation Fund (EAIF) Award for innovation. The awards were distributed by Nagaland CM Neiphiu Rio at the Regional Centre of Excellence for Music and Performing Arts (RCEMPA) in Jotsoma on Friday.
The award carries a cash prize of Rs 2 lakh along with citation and three years of mentorship by Entrepreneurs Associates, an oganisation that has been working to nurture the entrepreneurial aspirations of individuals and communities since 2000.
The youths who have received the award are Zenwang Konyak, Tsenshithung Yanthan and Peihauding Zeliang.
Konyak, a BSc student of Kohima Science College, Jotsoma (KSCJ), was awarded for his efforts in finding an innovative solution to address the water scarcity during dry seasons. The technology developed by him is known as Umbrella Harvest.
Similarly, Yanthan, a young government employee, was awarded for his invention of a portable sawing machine called the ‘Band Saw’. Zeliang, an MSc student of KSCJ, was conferred the award for innovations in organic healing paste and bio-enhancer.
