Assam: Two killed in accident involving police van, 4 others hurt

Vehicle was carrying three minors to the juvenile shelter home at Pasighat in Arunachal Pradesh when the unfortunate incident happened

Guwahati: Two people were killed on the spot and six others, including four policemen and two juveniles, received grievous injures after a police van in which they were travelling met with an accident near Silapathar in Dhemaji district of Assam. The police van was carrying three minors to the juvenile shelter home in East Siang HQ Pasighat when the unfortunate incident occurred.

Two Arunachal Pradesh police personnel are reported to be in a critical condition. The injured have been admitted to the Tomo Riba Institute of Health & Medical Sciences (TRIHMS) in Naharlagun, Arunachal Pradesh.

The deceased have been identified as constable Anil Haba and the driver of the vehicle, Tadar Taki. Five policemen were escorting three juveniles to Pasighat when the accident occurred. The three juveniles were earlier remanded to 14 days in juvenile home by the Juvenile Justice Board’s principal magistrate in connection with a police case filed under the Naharlagun police station.

The policemen injured in the accident have been identified as head constable Bhaikon Rajbongshi, and constables Taba Tangum, Pisa Tapam and Nada Hailyang of Naharlagun police station.
