CM launches novel initiative to encourage large-scale citizen participation, create awareness about importance of cleanliness
Imphal: In a bid to encourage large-scale citizen participation and create awareness among people about the importance of working together towards making towns and cities a better place to live in, Manipur CM N Biren Singh launched the ‘Google Swachh Toilet Manipur’ (toilet locator) app at the state secretariat on Saturday.
The CM also released the Swachh Suveksan 2019 campaign song, Houro Laklo.
Addressing the gathering, Singh said: “Cleanliness is of great importance in the prevention of many kinds of diseases. It is our responsibility to keep our environment clean.” He also appreciated the efforts of government officials and school authorities for organising cleanliness drives in their premises.
During his speech, the chief minister further said that the Google toilet locator app would enable people to identify the nearest public toilet, using just their mobile phone.
“Through the Swachhta app, citizens can upload photos of garbage lying unattended in any part of the state, thus helping the municipal authorities to clear the mess,” he added.
