Teachers’ Day is celebrated to express gratitude to all the teachers who have played a vital role in every student’s life. A good teacher can ignite the imagination, inspire hope and instill a love for learning in a child. Although Teachers’ Day is celebrated all over the world on different dates but in our country, this day is celebrated on the 5th of September to mark the birth anniversary of a staunch educationist and the second president of India, Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan who is a great legend of all time.

Once Dr. Radhakrishnan had said, “Instead of celebrating my birthday, it would be my proud privilege if September 5 is observed as Teachers’ Day.” Hence, the day has been observed as Teachers’ Day in India since 1962.
