BJP announces poll manifesto in Bihar; to provide free COVID-19 vaccine, 1.9 million jobs
Union finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman along with BJP general secretary Bhupendra Yadav and state party president Sanjay Jaiswal have released their party manifesto ahead of the Bihar assembly elections, in Patna. The three-phased Bihar elections have started and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday released its manifesto with a promise to distribute the COVID-19 vaccine free of cost once approved by the ICMR and available in the market at large scale.
The manifesto states assurance to provide 19 lakhs jobs for the youths of the state in different sectors. The party has also vowed to make 1 crore women in Bihar self-dependent by creating self-help groups (SHGs) in the next five years.
BJP in its 11-point Sankalp Patra, made several promises. The Sankalp Patra stated, the NDA government will be recruiting 300,000 teachers in all schools, high schools and universities. The manifesto states a promise to make Bihar an Information Technology (IT) hub which is worth $177 billion, a next generation IT hub which aims to create five lakh new jobs in the next five years.
The party also promised provide 100,000 jobs in the healthcare sector, including recruitment of 50,000 paramedical staff and 10,000 doctors. Moreover, the construction of the second All India Medical Sciences (AIIMS) at Darbhanga by 2024 is also being stated in the party manifesto.
Providing 1 million jobs through interlinking of 1,000 new Farmers Produce Organisations (FPO) and developing a supply chain for produce such as maize, fruits, vegetables, makhana, medicinal plants, etc is another claim mentioned in the Sankalp Patra.
Nirmala Sitharaman while appealing to the voters to vote for NDA stated that Nitish Kumar will be the Chief Minister of the state for the next 5 years and under his rule, Bihar will become a developed and progressive state of India. She also added that Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in Bihar has seen a sharp rise under the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) rule and that in the last 15 years of NDA government it has grown from 3 per cent to 11.3 per cent in the state.
The party manifesto was released by Nirmala Sitharaman, Bhupender Yadav, Nityanand Rai, Ashwini Choubey and Pramod Kumar alon with Union minister and Patna Sahib MP Ravi Shankar Prasad and other BJP leaders.
BJP is contesting the Bihar elections in alliance with Nitish Kumar’s Janata Dal (United). The Janata Dal (United) is contesting for 122 seats and Bharatiya Janata Party on 121 seats in the 243 member state assembly.
