To mark 25 years of its release, both Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol took changed their names and pictures to the iconic characters from the blockbuster

'Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge' one of the most iconic films of Hindi cinema completes 25 glorious years of its release today. From its evergreen dialogues to songs to exotic locations, DDLJ has given fans millions of reasons to rejoice. The film has broken all records being the only film to have run successfully in theatres for the past 25 years. This 1995 film starring Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol has been screening at the single-theatre cinema, Maratha Mandir in Mumbai.

Shah Rukh Khan shares a super special video on social media on '25 years of celebrating love' which takes fans on a trip down memory lane. While sharing the video, SRK stated, "25 years!!! Filled with gratitude towards you for loving Raj & Simran, with all your heart. This always feels special. #DDLJ25 @yrf."

While Kajol also shared a behind-the scene video and captioned it, "Raj & Simran! 2 names, 1 film, 25 years and the love doesn't stop coming in! I am truly grateful to all the people who made it what it is today. A phenomenon and a part of their own history. The fans! Big shoutout to all of you #25YearsOfDDLJ @yrf @iamsrk."

Shah Rukh Khan changed his twitter handle to Raj Malhotra from the film and Kajol changed it to Simran. The actors also changed their display pictures to the characters from their film. This gesture by the stars touched the millions of movie buffs and fans. All the social media sites, fans all over have been pouring love for the stars and the entire team of DDLJ.

Heart of London Business Alliance, to mark this big day on Monday revealed that SRK and Kajol's bronze statue will be assembled in Leicester Square’s ‘Scenes in the Square’ movie statue trail. This will be the first ever long-term Bollywood statue assembled in the UK. The iconic film written and directed by debutant Aditya Chopra also marks his directorial debut by DDLJ.

Here are some lesser known facts about the film. Shah Rukh Khan was not the first choice for DDLJ. Director Aditya Chopra wanted to cast Tom Cruise in his debut movie and the role was also offered to Saif Ali Khan.

Actor-politician Kirron Kher suggested the title of the movie, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge.

Director Aditya Chopra completed the script of the film in one month.

In an interview, Aditya Chopra stated that it was not easy for him to convince Shah Rukh for the film. He almost said no to the film. The director said, Shah Rukh was surprised to know that he was making a love story and not an action film as a debut.

The iconic song "Mehndi Laga Ke Rakhna" by Jatin-Lalit was initially meant to use in 1992 film ‘Khiladi’

Shah Rukh khan’s signature black leather jacket was bought by Uday Chopra from a Harley Davidson store in California for 400 dollars.

Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge won 14 Filmfare Awards and a National Award for Best Popular Film providing wholesome entertainment. The cast of the film also included names such as Amrish Puri, Farida Jalal, Satish Shah, Himani Shivpuri, Parmeet Sethi and Mandira Bedi.
