Delhi court sentences varying jail terms to 15 ISIS members

The judge of the special Delhi court, Parveen Singh sentenced the punishment under various sections

A special NIA court in Delhi on Friday sentenced varying jail terms to as many as 15 members associated with the terror organisation ISIS, in connection to hatching a criminal conspiracy to carry out acts of terrorism around India.

Allegedly, the members were trying to establish their base in India by recruiting Muslim youths from India through a number of social media platforms.

The judge of the special Delhi court, Parveen Singh sentenced the punishment under the sections 120-B (criminal conspiracy) of the IPC, and provisions of the stringent Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and Explosive Substances Act after the convicts pleaded guilty.

The court sent Nafees Khan to a 10-year-jail term with a fine of Rs. 1,03,000. Meanwhile the other three convicts were sentenced to a seven-year jail term each and one person was sentenced a six-year imprisonment.

The court also sentenced a five-year term to nine other convicts, with a fine of Rs. 38,000 each

The one's sentenced seven-year-term, Abu Anas, Mufti Abdul Sami Qasmi and Mudabbir Mushtaq Sheikh were fined Rs. 48,000, Rs. 50,000 and Rs. 65,000 respectively
