TRP Scam| National media chases Arnab Goswami; TV reporter roughed up
Following Mumbai Police’s statement regarding Republic TV and two other local channels that they tried to manipulate television ratings, the national media channels Republic TV and India Today have levelled in counter-accusations against each other.
Now, a video is being widely circulated on social media, where the Republic Media’s editor-in-chief Arnab Goswami is seen being chased by a number of journalists including an India Today reporter, as he drives out of his residence, and later the reporter is seen being roughed up by security guards.
In the video, reporters of various media houses can be seen crowding around his vehicle, in the same style which Arnab Goswami and his Republic TV staff usually do.
Mumbai Police chief Param Bir Singh on Thursday, said that four people, who were allegedly involved in gaming of Television Rating Points had been arrested.
The complaint against the media channels was lodged by an independent agency named Hansa.
Responding to the allegations, Arnab Goswami in his prime time show said that it was India Today, and not his Republic TV that was named in the FIR that was filed in the case.
Responding to this, the India Today TV responded with an interview of a senior Mumbai Police officer, who clarified that the investigations had not shown any connection between the alleged scam and India Today TV.
