Online protest in support of the victim's family started on Twitter, making #DalitLivesMatter trend on the micro-blogging site

Supporting the Hathras rape victim's family, several protests and agitations are being carried on across the country. While the situation is tense in Hathras, and section 144 of CrPC imposed in the village, New Delhi's Jantar Mantar was brimming with protestors on Friday evening.

Side by side, an online protest with #DalitLivesMatter has set Twitter abuzz.

The protest is not just to highlight one incident, but against the rise in atrocities against Dalits in Uttar Pradesh.

To control the situation, officials sealed the entry and exit of India Gate, and Jantar Mantar, said reports.

Further, Delhi Metro in a security update had to close the entry and exit gate for Janpath. Further it was informed that exit gates for Rajiv Chowk and Patel Chowk are also closed. The services have now resumed.

Further, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Bhim Army chief Chandrashekhar Azad and their supporters also came to Jantar Mantar to join the protest against the government not doing enough to stop crimes against women.
