Silver Lake to invest Rs 7,500 cr in Reliance Retail Ventures

Silver Lake is one of the world's largest tech investors, and will hold 1.75 per cent equity in Reliance Retail

Mumbai: The world's largest tech investor, Silver Lake Partners, will invest Rs 7500 crore in the retail arm of Reliance Industries Ltd for a 1.75 per cent equity. The announcement came from Reliance Industries and Reliance Retail Ventures.

This investment values subsidiary RRVL at a pre-money equity value of ₹ 4.21 lakh crore. This is the second billion dollar investment by Silver Lake in a Reliance Industries subsidiary after the $1.35 billion investment in Jio Platforms announced earlier this year.

Reliance Retail Limited, a subsidiary of RRVL, operates India's largest, retail business with 12,000 stores nationwide.

With more than $60 billion in combined assets under management, Silver Lake is the global leader in large-scale technology investing. Its other investments have included Airbnb, Alibaba, Alphabet's Verily and Waymo units, Dell Technologies, Twitter and numerous other global technology leaders.
