New Delhi: The soldiers of Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) celebrated the 74th Independence Day by unfurling the Indian flag at a height of 16,000 feet in Ladakh on Saturday.
The ITBP jawans celebrated the day on the banks of Pangong Tso lake in Ladakh along with various other strategic locations along the border.
Director General of ITBP and BSF SS Deswal said "India is a peace-loving nation with all strength to protect its sovereignty & integrity. Our security forces at borders are alert with complete strength & force and we assure the nation that our borders are well protected and safe."
ITBP also recommended 21 of its men for gallantry medals this year for showing extraordinary courage during the recent face-off with Chinese troops in Ladakh this year.
As per latest numbers, 294 jawans of ITBP have been awarded the Director General (DG) commendation in 2020 for displaying bravery during the Chinese troops stand-off in the month of June in eastern Ladakh.
