The girl was a promising student who belonged to a poor family, topped her Class XII Board exams
New Delhi: A 19-year-old US scholar belonging to Greater Noida's Dadri district was killed in a road accident in Bulandshahr while she was on her two-wheeler. She was staying in India for her vacations and was scheduled to return to the US on August 20.
The girl's family has alleged that she was eve-teased by two men on a motorcycle while she was on her way back on a scooty with her uncle.
"The men were passing comments on Sudeeksha and were trying to overtake her and do stunts. Suddenly, their motorbike hit Sudeeksha's Scooty and it lost balance. Sudeeksha died on the spot," said the girl's uncle Satendra Bhaati.
Atul Srivastava, Superintendent of Police (city), while speaking to the media said that police reached the spot following the accident and the body was sent for post-mortem. An investigation into the case has also been started, added Srivastava.
Former chief minister of Uttra Pradesh Mayawati took to Twitter and said "The promising student Sudeeksha Bhaati, who was going on a bike with her uncle in Bulandshahar, lost her life due to the eve-teasing, which is extremely sad, embarrassing and very condemnable. How will daughters progress? BSP strongly demands that UP government should take strict legal action against the culprits immediately."
The girl was a promising student who belonged to a poor family and topped her Class XII Board exams. She got a full scholarship of Rs 3.80 crore to study in the US.
