New Delhi: A 25-year-old unarmed youth was thrashed mercilessly by a mob in Badshahpur village of Gurgaon in Haryana on suspicion of transporting beef in a truck, said reports. The incident occurred in front of the police who stood as bystanders watching the whole ordeal unfold in front of their eyes, reports added.
The incident occurred around 9 am when a pick-up truck was reportedly chased for about 8 km and stopped by cow vigilantes on suspicion of carrying beef.
The driver named Lukman was dragged out of the pick-up truck and beaten by the mob in the presence of police who were present at the spot when the incident occurred.
Several videos of the incident have now gone viral all over social media that showed the mob thrashing Lukman merilessly.
The video further showed Lukman bleeding profusely from his head and pleading the mob to let him go as they continue to beat him up. The video also showed some of the accused kicking, assaulting and dragging the 25-year-old youth.

When things escalated, the police present on the spot tried to stop the mob from beating Lukman and the mob instead ended up damaging the police vehicle. Lukman was later taken to a nearby hospital where he is currently undergoing treatment for multiple injuries to his entire body.
The meat that Lukman was carrying in his truck has been sent to a laboratory for testing and no one in connection to the case has been arrested so far. An investigation into the incident has now been launched by Haryana Police.
