The development comes just a day after Sushant Singh Rajput's father filed an FIR in Patna against Rhea Chakraborty and 5 others
Mumbai: A day after deceased actor Sushant Singh Rajput's father KK Singh filed an FIR in Patna against Rajput's rumoured girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty and five others for abetment to suicide, Chakraborty approached the Supreme Court to seek the transfer of investigation to Mumbai.
Satish Maneshinde, Chakraborty’s lawyer, said that they have filed a petition in the SC to transfer the investigations to Mumbai. Rhea has also sought a stay on the probe by Bihar Police on the FIR, till the disposal of her plea in the top court, he added. The date for the hearing of Chakraborty’s plea has not been decided yet.
According to reports, Chakraborty has been booked under IPC section 341 (Wrongful Restraint), 342 (wrongful confinement), 380 (theft), 406 (breach of trust), 420 (cheating), 306 (abetment to suicide). Also, five others have been named in the six-page FIR, of which, three are Rhea's family members.
Meanwhile, a four-member team from Bihar Police has already reached Mumbai and spoke to the police officers there. If sources are to be believed, two inspector-rank officials and two sub-inspector rank officials from the Bihar Police are now in Mumbai. Additionally, they have already interrogated some key persons in the case.
Rajput (34) died by suicide at his Bandra residence in Mumbai last month. Following his death, there has been considerable debate on social media about mental health and nepotism in the industry. Several big names have been summoned by Mumbai Police regarding the actor's death, including filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Mahesh Bhatt, and Aditya Chopra. Karan Johar will also be called in for questioning later this week.
