Excessive use of alcohol-based hand sanitisers kills the good bacteria in hands that helps in keeping skin healthy
New Delhi: Warning the people on the overuse of sanitisers, the health ministry said that using too much of alcohol-based hand sanitisers to keep themselves safe from novel coronavirus can be harmful.
“These are unprecedented times, no one thought that a virus outbreak, of this nature, will occur. Use masks to protect yourself, drink hot water frequently & wash hands vigorously. Don’t overuse sanitisers,” Dr RK Verma, additional director-general of health services, ministry of health, said while speaking to a national news agency.
Health experts around the world have previously warned that using excessive alcohol-based hand sanitisers can kill the good bacteria in hands that help in keeping the skin healthy.
According to experts, one should wash their hands with soap and water as much as possible in a day and avoid the use of hand sanitisers as much as possible.
On July 25, India recorded 48,916 fresh cases of coronavirus taking the total number of COVID-19 cases in the country to 12,36,861. The death toll in India rose to 31,358.
