The 32-year-old Dalit man, now, faces a counter case for his alleged misconduct which resulted in the thrashing
Bengaluru: A Dalit man in Vijayapura district of Karnataka was allegedly stripped and thrashed by an angry mob recently. The reason being, “he touched a bike of a man who belonged to the upper class,” said the police.
The 32-year-old Dalit man then went to a nearby police station to file a complaint and he alleged that his family members were also thrashed. The video of the trashing is now viral on social media and the man had registered complaints against 13 men.
The 13 individuals were even called in for questioning and a case under the SC/ST Act was registered. Sections 143, 147, 149, 324, 354, 504, 506 of the Indian Penal Code have also been applied in this regard.
In the video clip, which surfaced in social media showed people surrounding a stripped person, who was laying on the ground. The surrounding people then proceeded to thrash the man on the ground with blows from sticks and some even proceeded to kick the helpless man on the ground.
However, a counter case was also filed on Monday against the 32-year-old Dalit man alleging that the man took off his clothes and even made obscene gestures directed towards two girls who were washing clothes in the area. Hence a case under section 354 of the IPC was also registered against the Dalit man.
