Nandita tops arts stream by getting 491 out of 500 in Jharkhand Academic Council Class XII (intermediate) board exams
New Delhi: Scoring 491 out of 500, the daughter of tailor-domestic help parents topper the arts stream in the Jharkhand Academic Council Class XII (intermediate) board exams. The results were declared on Friday evening.
Nandita, a student of Jamshedpur Women’s College (JWC), said that she expected good results but never even dreamt of being the state topper. She scored 74 in Political Science, 82 in English, 85 in History, 88 in Geography, and 90 in Hindi. Nandita is the eldest in her family followed by two other siblings.
Her parents, Rajesh Haipal and Rashmi, wanted their 16-year-old daughter to discontinue her studies after the matriculation. The reason was that they could not afford to pay for her school fees. But Nandita persevered as she made her parents give in to her demands of studying and even started taking private tuitions for primary and kindergarten students to pay her schooling expenses.
Nandita aims to become an IAS officer after completing her graduation in Mass Communication. Proud of the achievement, JWC’s Principal Shukla Mahanty even visited Nandita’s home and rewarded her with some cash along with a silver coin and a wristwatch. Taking into view her resolve for pursuing education, the college has promised Nandita that they would not charge anything including hostel fees from her for her graduation degree.
