WhatsApp experiences glitches late last night, back to normal now
New Delhi: Messaging app WhatsApp saw an unexpected crash in its systems in the early morning of Wednesday. Many users reported some issues in sending or receiving messages through the popular end-to-end encrypted application.
Although the problems of this app were fixed quickly, users reported issues related to connection, sending or receiving messages, and even log-in problems. Some even reported that the application would open but a connecting loop was displayed. When the loop was displayed, the services experienced issues.
Down Detector, the tracking website that monitors and even offers real-time status and outage information, said that users started reporting problems since 1:32 am. Problems were mostly focused on Europe and Brazil but it is a result of where active users are most likely to be based.
Unlike other Facebook-owned apps, WhatsApp does not have a functioning status page to update users and developers on any glitches in its service. This means that there is no easy way of knowing whether the company knows how widespread the outage was.
Moreover, earlier WhatsApp glitches were often followed by problems with Facebook and Instagram as well, mainly because they share the same infrastructure. However, this time, both the services seemed to work normally. Additionally, its devoted Twitter account has not been used since 2014.
