Wanted criminal Vikash Dubey arrested from temple in Madhya Pradesh
New Delhi: Wanted gangster Vikash Dubey, the main accused in Kanpur ambush which led to the death of eight policemen recently, was arrested early on Thursday morning from a temple in Madhya Pradesh.
He was caught after a five-day chase across four states. He was identified by a security personnel while praying at Ujjain Mahakal temple. He confessed to his identity after being interrogated, says reports.
Dubey, a nefarious criminal, faces around 60 criminal charges including murder, attempt to murder, extortion, kidnapping, etc. Eight policemen were killed on Friday when a large team went to Bikru village in Chaubeypur area of Kanpur in UP to arrest Dubey and his aides. The gangster fled after the ambush, leading to a massive hunt for him and a bounty of Rs 5 lakh.
Meanwhile, two of his aides have been killed in separate encounters in Uttar Pradesh. In total, five gang members of Dubey who were involved in the massacre last week are now dead.
Earlier on July 7, three police personnnel were suspended after suspicious activities linked them with Vikash Dubey.
