Felt like spiderman being asked to join Avengers: Girish Pradhan
Guwahati: From growing up listening to his musical inspirations like Chris Adler, James LoMenzo to actually being a part of their band, vocalist, songwriter and guitarist from Gangtok Sikkim, Girish Pradhan gets candid in an online tete-a-tete with EastMojo editor-in-chief Karma Paljor.
Speaking with Paljor, Pardhan spoke about his new association with the “drummer god” Adler and their new band “Firstborne.” Former “Lamb of God” drummer has teamed up with bassist James Lomenzo (ex-Megadeth, ex-White Lion, ex-Black Label Society) to form the new band “Firstborne”, of which Pradhan is the vocalist. The group’s recently released their self-titled EP along with a pair of lyric videos for The Anthem and Primordial. Guitar wizard Myrone is also an invaluable member of the band.
Pradhan and Adler met in Bangalore where they were getting ready for a performance and that very moment was the beginning of “Firstborne.” The group’s line–up was complete only after Adler has spent multiple weeks performing clinics in India and that was where he shared the stage with Pradhan. Upon describing his first jam with the drumming legend, Pradhan said, “It was a very scary moment with this drummer god playing the drums behind you- but he was so gentle, very warm and positive about the whole thing.”
Reminiscing his days back in Gangtok and talking about inspiration Pradhan says “We grew up listening to them. It was so exciting- like Spiderman is being invited to the Avengers by Ironman.”
2020 is quite an unusual year, and although there may not be any travel plans for the band in the near future, however, their EP has been launched on all digital platforms with two lyrical videos on YouTube. This created quite the buzz all over the world- especially India, with homeboy Girish Pradhan coming in the limelight with this exciting venture. “Firstborne” has been featured in various metal magazines and picking up all the right attention in the rock n’ roll universe.
