Actor Salman Khan breaks silence after a criminal complaint was filed against him for abetting suicide of late actor Sushant Singh Rajput
Guwahati: Actor Salman Khan finally broke his silence on the entire debacle following the death of Sushant Singh Rajput at his residence in Mumbai on June 14. Taking to Twitter, the Bollywood star appealed everyone to stand with Rajput’s family and fans and to follow the emotions behind it.
On Saturday, Khan wrote, “A request to all my fans to stand with sushant's fans n not to go by the language n the curses used but to go with the emotion behind it. Pls support n stand by his family n fans as the loss of a loved one is extremely painful.”
This is the second post by the actor on the death of Rajput with the first being on the ill-fated day June 14 where the actor wrote, “U will be missed … #RIPSushant.”
Earlier this week an advocate from Muzaffarpur Bihar, filed cases against eight prominent names of Bollywood which includes Salman Khan, Karan Johar, Ekta Kapoor, and Sanjay Leela Bhansali in connection with alleged abetment of Rajput's suicide.
The case was filed by advocate Sudhir Kuman Ojha in a court in Bihar’s Muzaffarpur under Sections 306 (abetment of suicide), 109 (punishment of abetment if the act is committed in consequence and where no express provision is made for its punishment), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) and 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). In the complaint, Ojha alleged that Rajput was removed from around seven films and that some of his films were not even released. This, according to the advocate, was the driving force behind the actor’s extreme step.
This was followed by another complaint by a resident of Muzaffarpur in Bihar against actress Rhea Chakraborty for abetting the suicide of Rajput. Rajput and Chakraborty were reportedly in a relationship.
The complainant, Kundan Kumar, filed the petition in the court of chief judicial magistrate Mukesh Kumar and the matter has been posted for hearing on June 24.
Kumar has accused Chakraborty of “financial and mental exploitation”. “My client is a huge fan of Rajput and has been deeply distressed by his suicide. He has filed his complaint under IPC Sections 306 (abetment of suicide) and 420 (fraud),” Kumar’s lawyer Kamlesh told media persons after the complaint was filed.
The 34-year-old actor was reportedly found dead in his home in Mumbai on June 14. Many alleged that it was due to the existing norms of Bollywood hierarchy, favoritism, and nepotism that eventually led to the young actor's death.
