Guwahati: Of all the negative points credited to the COVID-19 lockdown, the fact that it has caused a visible reduction in air pollution is undeniable. The latest example to support this view can be accredited to the breathtaking pictures of the Himalayan mountain range as was seen from Saharanpur in Uttar Pradesh.

Snaps of such a rare occurrence started doing its rounds on Twitter after an Indian Forest Service officer Ramesh Pandey shared it on his handle. According to Pandey, the photographs were clicked by a city pediatrician Dr Vivek Banerjee. With the improved Air Quality Index, the view of Gangotri and Yamunotri were clearly visible from Saharanpur.

The mountain range which is located several hundred kilometers away was visible to the residents of Saharanpur after the severe thunderstorms and rain cleared the air on Sunday.

This spectacular occurrence was seen just days after Singhwahini village in Bihar woke up to a stunning view of the Himalayas.

The nationwide lockdown has led to the clarity of the air as it has caused the reduction of carbon emissions from various vehicles and industries. People on Twitter are now even claiming that “Nature is healing”.
