The Disha Act was implemented by the state government in the wake of the brutal gang rape and murder of a 27-year-old veterinarian on the outskirts of Hyderabad last year.

Now, the chief minister has ordered to set up the Disha police stations to ensure stringent punishment in case of crimes against women. These police stations are supposed to expedite investigation into such cases.
