Cyberabad police chief VC Sajjanar was SP in Warangal at the time of that encounter, the report added.
As per The News Minute, in December 2008, the police gunned down three men accused of throwing acid on two women engineering students. The students — Swapnika and Pranitha — of the Kakatiya Institute of Technology in Warangal town were attacked after Swapnika had rejected the proposal of Srinivas, one of the accused. Srinivas Rao, 25, the main accused in the case, and his associates P Harikrishna, 24, and B Sanjay, 22, were killed in the encounter.
On Friday morning, the country woke up to the news of the new development in the rape and murder case of a veterinary doctor in Chatanpally near Hyderabad in Telangana. All the four accused in the case – Areef, Shiva, Naveen and Chennakeshavulu – were shot dead by the police in an alleged encounter, The News Minute reported.
According to the report, the accused were taken to the scene of the crime to recreate the sequence of events when they allegedly tried to escape. Two policemen were injured in the incident, the report said.
The accused were shot dead in the same place where Disha’s (name changed) body was found burnt after she was allegedly raped and killed. They had been taken to the scene of the crime at Chatanpally, located nearly 50 km from Hyderabad, on Thursday to collect evidence. The reports of the alleged encounter surfaced on Friday morning. Additional DG (law and order) Jitender told The News Minutethat the incident happened after 6 am on Friday.
