Nagaland: Rs 2062.57 Cr revenue generated through CGST, SGST, IGST from 2018-21

Kohima: Nagaland has so far generated a total revenue of Rs 2,062.57 crore through the Central Goods and Services Tax (CGST), State Goods and Services Tax (SGST), and Integrated Goods and Services Tax (IGST) from 2018-21, the state government informed on Monday.

In response to a starred question raised by MLA Kuzholuzo Nienu, Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio said the revenue from these taxes, which are part of the Consolidated Fund of the state, is utilized for financing the budgeted expenditure such as salaries, pensions, debt servicing and other activities of the state government. 

According to the data provided, a total of Rs 816.48 crore was generated in 2020-21, of which Rs 145.51 crore was through CGST, Rs 187.88 crore through SGST, and Rs 483.09 crore through IGST. 

In 2019-20, a total of Rs 713.25 crore was generated – Rs 100.02 crore through CGST, Rs 144.69 crore through SGST and Rs 468.54 crore through IGST. Likewise, in 2018-219, a total of Rs 532.84 crore was generated–Rs 63.20 crore through CGST, Rs 96.45 crore through SGST, and Rs 373.19 crore through IGST.

Rio also informed that ever since SGST payments were done online, manipulation of the taxes has “come down”.  When Nienu questioned the movement of goods and services under IGST, Rio said that it is regulated under the Reserved Bank of India Act for funds transfer and that there is no confusion to this regard.
