Nagaland SIT report on Oting shooting to be made public after Centre's nod: CM

Kohima: Governor Jagdish Mukhi, while addressing the 11th session of the 13th Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA), informed that the Special Investigation Team (SIT) constituted to probe the Oting killings has completed the investigation.

“I am happy to say that the SIT worked at a good pace and has completed its investigation,” the governor said.

Mukhi, who addressed the state Assembly for the first time, recalled the December incidents in Mon district where 14 innocent civilians were killed by security forces and several others were seriously injured.

“The event caused outrage, and rightly so, in our state, and even in other parts of the country. My Government took every possible step to lessen the pain of the victim families,” he said, adding that compensations were made for the loss of lives and medical care needs of those injured were taken care of.

He informed that the state government also approached the Centre for taking up certain developmental projects in the affected areas, which, besides assuring the traumatized populace, will also help faster development of the area.

He added the Army’s Court of Inquiry, which was also constituted to probe the matter, is also expected to complete its inquiry soon.
