Kohima: Nagaland Governor Jagdish Mukhi, while gracing the opening ceremony of the 22nd Hornbill Festival here on Wednesday, assured that the signing of a peace agreement with Naga rebel groups is not very far.

Mukhi said the Government of India (GoI), under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is committed to ensuring the development of the region. 

Mukhi conveyed that the Central and state governments are working together to bring in lasting peace in the land. “The day is not very far for signing the much-awaited peace agreement with Naga rebel groups,” he said.

As beneficiaries, he said that Nagas should make up their minds and create a conducive atmosphere for welcoming the “new dawn of a peaceful and progressive Nagaland”.
