Dimapur: The NDPP on Thursday announced S Keoshu Yimchunger as its candidate for the Shamator-Chessore assembly bypoll in Nagaland’s Tuensang district.

Yimchunger is the consensus candidate of the newly-formed United Democratic Alliance (UDA) and will be supported by BJP and NPF, the NDPP said.

Voting will be held on October 30 in the seat, which fell vacant following the death of sitting MLA and Advisor for Information and Public Relations, SCERT and Village Guards Toshi Wungtung.

Speaking to the press at the party office in Chumukedima, Yimchunger thanked the UDA partners and said that if he is elected, he will bring positive change in the constituency.

Friday is the last date for filing nominations.

The votes will be counted on November 2.
