Kohima: The Beauty and Aesthetic Society of Nagaland (BASN) announced that the 29th edition of Miss Nagaland would be held virtually this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The online audition will take place between October 9 and 10.
“Since a majority of the districts are not conducting the district pageant this year except for Peren and Phek, the selection of girls will be done through an open online audition. This year, 14- 16 girls would be selected from the online audition,” BASN informed.
Registration for the contest is open till October 7. Selected candidates will undergo training and grooming in Kohima for a minimum of 7-8 days. BASN informed that the Miss Nagaland beauty pageant would be streamed online on its YouTube channel and social media platforms. 2021 also marks BASN’s 30 years of existence.
The winner of this year’s Miss Nagaland will win Rs 1 lakh along with gift hampers. The winner will also be designated as the state icon and get a direct entry for Miss Northeast 2022.
Likewise, the first runner up of the contest will win a cash prize of Rs 70,000 along with gift hampers and a direct entry for Miss Northeast 2022, besides being designated as the district icon. The second runner up will win Rs 50,000 along with gift hampers, and also earn the title of the district icon.
To apply, one has to be a bonafide citizen of Nagaland aged 18-25 years. The relationship status of the candidates should be ‘single, not engaged, unmarried.’ The height requirement is 5’4 and above without heels.

Meanwhile, it also informed that the state would host the first-ever Northeast beauty pageant. “BASN is also happy to announce that Northeast Beauty Pageant Organization comprising all the eight states of NE has been formed with Nagaland as the president of the organization. The first edition of the NE Beauty Pageant will be hosted by Nagaland next year,” said BASN.
