Kohima: The Rising People’s Party (RPP), on Tuesday filed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) in the High Court, Kohima Bench, after its demand to the state government to withhold the recruitment of 1,517 posts under 76 Departments went unheard.
The RPP informed that it has “no other option” but to file a PIL against the DPAR notification and the functioning of NSSB alleging that the government notification is “solely aimed at justifying rampant backdoor appointments”.
RPP said that the PIL was filed on Tuesday by Lhikhro Kreo, Secretary (admin) of the party and others through Neiteo Koza, Advocate and Counselor for the petitioners.
“The Rising People’s Party demands that the said vacant number of Posts be advertised and filled only through the NPSC and NSSB recruitment exams in-order to facilitate the practice of fair and just recruitment process,” the RPP reiterated.
The Party, on August 13, had submitted a memorandum to the chief secretary of Nagaland to withdraw the notification within seven days. As reported earlier, the RPP said that the vacant number of posts must be advertised and filled only through the Nagaland Public Service Commission (NPSC) and Nagaland Staff Selection Board (NSSB) recruitment exams. It had demanded that NSSB must be made functional in-order to conduct recruitment exams.
In this regard, the RPP said that it stands with the educated unemployed youths in the fight against the “menacing system called backdoor appointment”. It appealed to all the right thinking citizens and civil society organisations to stand up for the “future of Nagaland”.
The PIL was filed by the party as it said that the state government seem to “have turned a deaf ear” to their proposal.
