Kohima: One person was charred to death in a fire incident that broke out on early Thursday morning at Burma camp in Dimapur.

Around 124 thatched bamboo homes were gutted down in the fire incident that began around midnight, Relo Aye, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (ADCP) Dimapur told EastMojo.

Although the actual cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, it is suspected to be due to a short circuit.

However, as per reports, there was no electricity in that locality at the time of the incident.

Four fire tenders were pressed into service to control the inferno and the fire brigade personnel took around three hours to control the flame from engulfing the surrounding areas. More than 100 families were rendered homeless in the fire incident.
