Kohima: Following an alleged abduction of a driver by the NSCN-IM, the Dimapur Police raided an unofficial office of the group at Diphupar ‘B’ village G Khel, Dimapur. However, there were no arrests.
Authorities said on Monday, the Dimapur Police raided the unauthorised office facility of NSCN (IM) after receiving a complaint that a truck driver was “illegally detained”.
The temporary office was subsequently sealed by the police team. Recoveries made during the raid included documents, registers, computer sets, furniture, stamps, chains (4 Nos), 140 gms of suspected ganja, three two-wheeler vehicles and one vehicle (WagonR).
A case has also been registered at Chumoukedima police station in this regard.
Meanwhile, a police source told EastMojo that the NSCN-IM’s unauthorised office was empty at the time of the raid, and there were no arrests. As per the source, the group later released the driver, who had been detained illegally.
Sources from the NSCN-IM told EastMojo that its (main) office has received information about the raid. However, it is yet to receive details from its (unauthorised) office where the raid was made.
The source added the organisation was not sure on what grounds the police raided the alleged office. On enquiry about the alleged detainment of a truck driver, the source said that the NSCN-IM office had not been informed about it.
