Nagaland: 2 RCC girder bridges inaugurated in Dimapur

R&B department asked to keep signboards with the name of the contractor in all the roads and bridges that are constructed under it

Kohima: Two Reinforced Cement Concrete (RCC) girder bridges, one over the River Chathe Diphupar 'A' behind Referral Hospital, and the other over River Dhansari at Nagarjan, were inaugurated in Dimapur on Monday by Nagaland Deputy Chief Minister Y Patton, also in-charge of Home and Roads and Bridges.

Rovilatuo Mor IAS, Commissioner & Secretary, Works and Housing, informed that the project for the construction of the RCC Girder Bridge over Chathe at Diphupar A was sanctioned by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways during July 2015 for Rs 37.66 crore, an official update from the state’s DIPR said.

As for the RCC Girder Bridge over Dhansiri at Nagarjan Dimapur, Mor informed that the project was sanctioned by the Ministry during July 2015 for Rs 37.95 crore.

Although no official records are available, he informed that the existing Nagarjan Bridge was constructed by the British Government. The bridge will remain as it is to maintain it as a heritage structure.

Therefore, the construction of new bridge was relocated to the adjacent land and the bridge layout of the bridge was given in October 2017.

While unveiling the plaque of the two bridges on behalf of the Government of Nagaland, Patton expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister of Nagaland for the additional fund released to ensure that the bridges become functional before Christmas.
