Nagaland: COVID-19 cases hit 11,787, death toll rises to 63

One frontline worker, 3 security personnel, 2 returnees, and 20 persons through traced contacts tested positive for COVID-19

Kohima: As Nagaland continues to witness a daily spike in the number of COVID-19 cases, the state’s tally touched 11,787 on Wednesday after 26 fresh cases were detected in the state. Among the new cases that were detected, one is a frontline worker, three are security personnel, two are returnees, and 20 persons are through traced contacts.

The state also reported one more COVID-19 death from Dimapur on Wednesday taking the death toll to 63. Besides the COVID-19 related deaths, seven deaths are not COVID-19 related death, and three deaths from Dimapur are under investigation.

According to the health department, 30% of the COVID-19 deaths have happened within 48 hours of being admitted to the hospital signifying late treatment with little hope for survival as the timing of the few available treatments like Oxygen and steroids are very critical for the survival.

Out of the total confirmed cases in the state, 594 are active cases, and 10,993 are recovered cases. As per the severity of symptoms among the active cases, 551 are asymptomatic, 25 are mild symptomatic, 13 are moderate on oxygen, four are severe on oxygen, and one is critical in ICU on a ventilator.
