HSLC & HSSLC: Naga toppers from Nagaland, Manipur felicitated
Kohima: Naga students from Nagaland and Manipur who topped the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) and Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate (HSSLC) this year has been felicitated by the Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) on Friday.
Out of a total of 61 Naga toppers from the two states, 39 attended the felicitation ceremony held at RCEMPA, Kohima. Out of the total toppers, five are from Manipur.
“As you start your next journey, you must face the tasks that lie ahead with hard work and confidence. Life has many challenges, but one has to overcome them and convert challenges into opportunities,” said special guest and adviser of school education KT Sukhalu.
Congratulating the students and challenging them to do the best, the adviser said that Nagaland is need of exceptional people to lead the state. Although the present COVID-19 pandemic has increased the challenges, further changing the dynamics of lives, he said that there to adapt to the changing times.
Exhorting the students, Sukhalu said that although there are many new ways to gain knowledge, he recommended inculcating a reading habit as it opens up the mind to the best of human experience, wisdom and knowledge.
During the felicitation of Naga toppers held at RCEMPA, NSF President Ninoto Awomi, in his presidential address reminded the students that unless the knowledge gained is utilized for the welfare of the society; one will continue to remain a mere degree holder.
He challenged the toppers to become problem solvers in the society and to be the best version. The president also advised the students to be humble, be consistent and to live life.
Imlibenla Jamir, who ranked third in the NBSE HSLC shared that the constant study routine which she maintained at an early age has helped her to discipline herself and also prioritize her studies. She said that this habit has contributed towards achieving the feat as a topper.
From Manipur, Raphael Shanglai, who secured the 6th rank in the HSSLC COHSEM, hoped that Naga students would continue to excel in every field. He also envisions a time when Naga students will “raise the banner of victory for the motherland”.
