Nagaland: 3 more COVID-19 deaths confirmed; Death toll touches 17
Kohima: Three more deaths in Nagaland has been confirmed due to COVID-19 on Wednesday. This has taken the death toll in the state to 17.
The three deaths from Dimapur were under investigation till Tuesday. Besides the 17 confirmed COVID-19 deaths, five deaths are not related to COVID-19, and another five deaths are still under investigation.
On Wednesday, 53 new cases of COVID-19 were detected in the state taking the tally to 7,416. Among the new cases, 35 are persons through traced contacts, 14 are security personnel, three are returnees, and one is a frontline worker.
As per the district-wise distribution of the new cases, 25 are from Kohima, 10 are from Dimapur, 14 are from Mon, two are from Peren, one is from Tuensang, and one is from Zunheboto.
Out of the total confirmed cases, 5,855 are recovered cases, and 1,473 are active cases. As per the severity of symptoms among the active cases, 1,420 active cases are asymptomatic, 39 active cases are mild, 10 active cases are moderate on oxygen, one active case is severe on oxygen, one active case is critical with oxygen and two active cases are on ventilators.
Further, out of 7,416 positive cases, the distribution across various categories of people are: 3,378 cases of Armed Forces/Police, 1,567 cases of Returnees, 2,098 cases of Traced Contacts and 373 cases of Frontline Workers.
Nagaland home commissioner Abhijit Sinha informed that a total of 55,999 samples have been sent for testing through RT-PCR and results of 54,711 samples have been received. In addition, a total 30,679 samples have been sent for testing on Truenat and results of 30,620 samples have been received. Through Rapid Antigen Test, 3,116 samples have been tested.
