NSCN-IM cadre arrested with contraband worth Rs 2.7 lakh
Kohima: In a joint operation by the Nagaland Police and the Assam Rifles, a self-styled "tatar" of the NSCN-IM cadre was arrested along with contraband worth around Rs 2.7 Lakh.
The NSCN-IM cadre was arrested from the general area Ward 9, Chumoukedima in Dimapur on Friday. The state police and the security forces seized 1,460 SP capsules and 12 cases of various liquor bottles.
The self-styled "tatar" is identified as Kelechutuo Doze, a 38-year-old member of the rebel group. The seized items amounted to Rs 2.7 Lakh approximately, informed an official update from COl Sanjiv Sethi PRO IGAR (N).
The joint operation by the security forces and the state police was part of the crackdown to prevent illegal activities in Nagaland where the operation was launched based on specific intelligence regarding illegal activities in the area.
The arrested person along with the recovered items were handed to Chumoukedima Police Station in Dimapur for further investigation.
