Ayushmann Khurrana is UNICEF's new celebrity advocate for children's rights

Ayushmann Khurrana will support UNICEF towards ending violence against children, a cause that is extremely close to his heart

In a new development, UNICEF India has announced its decision of roping Ayushmann Khurrana as its celebrity advocate for children's rights campaign - 'For Every Child'. Khurrana will support UNICEF towards ending violence against children.

Khurrana will work towards this initiative in India and he joins the likes of former football star David Beckham, who works on this campaign globally.

UNICEF representative in India, Dr Yasmin Ali Haque, expressed delight as he welcomed Ayushmann Khurrana as a UNICEF celebrity advocate. “He will bring sensitivity, passion and a powerful voice for every child, with a specific focus towards ending violence against children," Haque said.

Through a statement, Haque added saying “Ayushmann’s support will help increase awareness about this important issue, especially now with COVID-19 heightening the risk of violence and abuse against children due to the extended lockdown and the socio-economic impacts of the pandemic"

"Every child everywhere has the right to a safe, happy and healthy childhood. We have the power to make it reality and we must commit ourselves to this goal. Join hands with UNICEF and me to protect children at any cost by ending violence against children, a cause that is extremely close to my heart", Khurrana shared through a video on instagram.

He captioned it writing "My childhood memories always put a smile on my face. But for many children, their childhood remains incomplete. As @unicefindia Celebrity Advocate, join me to #ENDviolence against children in India".
