Nagaland: 28 more persons test positive for COVID-19; 102 recover

Kohima: Nagaland continues to witness a spike in the total number of COVID-19 cases in the state as another 28 more persons have tested positive for COVID-19 on Monday.

With the addition of the new cases, the total confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the state spiked to 3714. The new cases were reported out of 587 samples that were tested.

Out of a total of the 28 new cases that were detected in the state on Monday, 24 are from Kohima, two from Dimapur and one new case each from Longleng and Zunheboto.

Among the new cases, twenty are through traced contacts from Kohima, six are returnees, four from Kohima and one each from Longleng and Zunheboto, and two are armed forces personnel from Dimapur.

Overall, a total of 1609 armed force personnel, 1213 returnees, 646 traced contacts, and 246 frontline workers tested positive for COVID-19 out of the total of 3714 total cases.

Meanwhile, another 102 persons have also recovered from COVID-19 on Monday increasing the number of recovered cases to 2396. Among the new recovered cases, 85 are from Dimapur, and 17 are from Kohima.

With more persons recovering from COVID-19 in the state, the recovery rate increased to 64.51%. The state has also reported a total of eight COVID-19 related death. One death is COVID-19 positive but not due to COVID-19.

A health official confirmed to EastMojo that one more death has been confirmed as COVID-19 positive late on Sunday. The cause of death is said to be under investigation. However, this case has not been reflected in the official tally presented by the health department.

As per the health department's official update, the COVID-19 status in Nagaland as on Monday is:

Confirmed: 3714

Active: 1301

Recovered: 2396

Death: 8

Migrated: 8

Among the 1301 active cases, 1280 are asymptomatic, 20 from Dimapur are mild symptomatic, and one from Dimapur is moderate symptomatic.
