Nagaland: 49 new COVID-19 cases detected; state's tally hits 3,684

31 from Kohima, 10 from Dimapur, 5 from Mon, 2 from Tuensang and 1 from Mokokchung test positive for COVID-19

Kohima: Another 49 cases of COVID-19 were detected in Nagaland on Sunday taking the state's tally of COVID-19 cases to 3,684. The new cases have been declared as positive out of 916 samples that were tested.

Among the new cases, 31 are from Kohima, 10 from Dimapur, five from Mon, two from Tuensang and one from Mokokchung. Nagaland health minister S Pangnyu Phom said that necessary contact tracing has been activated and all primary contacts are under self-isolation.

"Update! 49 new +ve cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed out of 916 samples tested. 31 in Kohima, 10 in Dimapur, 5 in Mon, 2 in Tuensang & 1 in Mokokchung. Necessary contact tracing have been activated and all primary contacts are under self isolation," he wrote on Twitter.

Meanwhile on Saturday, another COVID-19 death was reported in the state. With this, the COVID-19 deaths have increased to eight. The COVID-19 death rate in Nagaland is 0.19% till Friday.

The current COVID-19 status is:

Confirmed: 3,684

Active: 1,502

Recovered: 2,166

Death: 8 (One COVID-19 case is positive but not due to COVID-19. Therefore it is not reflected in the tally)

Migrated: 7

A late update from the health department said that in the past week reported 297 cases compared to 665 the week before. The positivity rate is at 6.40%.

Up to 82% of the confirmed cases are male, which includes a large percentage from the military. Up to 0.4% of confirmed cases have comorbidity. A total of 14,222 contacts have been traced during contact tracing by surveillance teams, out of which 5,326 are primary contacts.

The median age of confirmed cases is 31 years with a range from five months to 93 years. The doubling time is same as the previous week of 14 days. The first COVID case was reported 89 days back
