Kohima: Just a day ahead of the sixth session of the 13th Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) scheduled on Thursday, the state Assembly has decided to defer the session to August 13. The Kohima District Task Force also sealed the Assembly secretariat as six staffers tested positive for COVID-19 on Wednesday.
Commissioner and secretary of the State Assembly Dr PJ Antony told EastMojo that the scheduled Assembly session is deferred to August 13. On Wednesday, six staffers of the NLA secretariat tested positive for COVID-19. As per an official update, the session was deferred due to “certain unforeseen developments” that have emerged prompting the deferment.
Following an emergency meeting on Wednesday, the Kohima District Task Force (DTF) announced its decision to close/seal the office of the NLA secretariat for 48 hours as per the SOP on preventive measures to contain the spread of COVID-19 in offices issued by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Directorate General of Health Services ( EMR Division), Government of India.
The fumigation and disinfection of the Office premises has been initiated following all health Safety measures and SOPS of the Government, a letter written by the deputy commissioner addressed to the Principal secretary Home read.
As the proposed sealed Area is mapped and cordoned off, it advised the public and all concerned individuals to follow all safety precautions of wearing masks all the time, frequently washing hands, maintain social/physical distances to ensure public hygiene and personal safety within the proximity of the Sealed Area.
Meanwhile, MLA Mhathung Yanthan, Adviser to the department of Horticulture and Border Affairs, who tested positive for COVID-19 took to twitter saying “Although my COVID-19 test rprt came out +ve, I show no symptoms and m doing absolutely fine. Currently I’m in home isolation and under proper care. I’m hopeful that I’ll emerge healthier n stronger. Thank u all for ur concern and wishes. Keep me in your prayers!”
