After repeated complaints for improvement of network services in Mokokchung, Ao Kaketshir Mungdang 'shuts down' Jio and Vodafone offices in district
Mokokchung: Ao Kaketshir Mungdang (AKM), the apex students' body of Mokokchung in Nagaland, on Saturday shut down the Jio and Vodafone offices for not fulfilling their demands of improving telecom network services in the district.
AKM general secretary Nekmi Longkumer told EastMojo: “Network services provided by the two telecom companies are not up to the mark when it comes to students who have to now study and attend online classes.”
Longkumer added that the AKM invited all the telecom companies based in Mokokchung on May 29 for a meeting at its office, where they expressed their problems and complaints to the authority concerned. The AKM requested the companies to look into the matter as soon as possible and further wrote a formal complaint to both the offices.
The general secretary also added that the AKM visited both the offices after serving the formal complaint and gave an ultimatum of seven days to fix the issue but they did not take the due course of action to fulfill their demand.
When asked as to what the telecom providers should do to reopen the stores, Longkumer said that “they should provide the network services up to the standards, where the students can study through the Internet and also attend online classes”.
