Kohima:COVID-19 positive cases near 600 mark in Nagaland as 23 more persons tested positive on Saturday taking the state's total to 562. Out of the 23 new cases, 21 are from Peren and two from Kohima.
The new cases are from a batch of 411 samples tested. With this, the number of active cases spiked to 334 and the number of recovered cases remain at 228.
Taking to Twitter, health minister S Pangnyu Phom tweeted: "Update! Out of 411 samples tested, 23 fresh, positive cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed. 21 in Peren & 2 in Kohima. Total State status as of 9:30 AM, 4th July, 2020. Positive : 562 Active : 334 Recovered : 228."
Nagaland reported its first cases of COVID-19 on May 25 when three persons who returned from Chennai in Tamil Nadu -- two men and one woman -- have tested positive for the novel coronavirus in the Northeastern state.
The state also reported the first recovery cases on June 6 when eight persons from Dimapur have recovered from COVID-19.
