Nagaland: 13 test positive for COVID-19 as cases spike to 107

Fresh positive samples of COVID-19 reported in the last 24 hours belong to Chennai returnees informs health minister

Kohima: It took just two weeks for Nagaland to cross the century mark for COVID-19 cases as 13 new fresh cases. The total number of active cases in the state stands at 107.

Out of 252 samples that were sent for testing in the past 24 hours, 13 were tested positive. All the samples tested were from Chennai Returnees. There has been no recovery or death in the state so far due to COVID-19 infections.

Taking to Twitter, health minister S Pangnyu Phom tweeted: "13 new positive cases of COVID-19 has been reported in the last 24 hours out of 252 samples tested. All the samples tested were from Chennai Returnees. Positive : 107 Active : 107 Recovered : 00 Death : 00. Update at 8:25 am, 6th June, 2020".

The first COVID-19 cases were reported in the state on May 25 when three persons-- two men and one woman, who returned on the Shramik special train from Chennai in Tamil Nadu on May 22, tested positive for the novel coronavirus.
