Nagaland: COVID-19 cases near century mark as 14 tests positive

14 new positive cases of COVID-19 reported in the last 24 hours out of 235 samples tested, informed health minister

Kohima: COVID-19 cases in Nagaland spike to 94 in total as 14 more Chennai returnees tested positive for COVID-19 on Friday morning. In less than two weeks since the first COVID-19 cases were detected in the state, the state's tally at 94 nears a century mark with no recovery and death cases so far.

Out of the 235 samples that were tested in the past 24 hours, 14 of them tested positive for COVID-19. All active cases in the state are related to the Shramik special train that reached the state on May 22.

Taking to twitter, Minister of Health and family welfare, S Pangyu Phom tweeted "14 new positive cases of COVID-19 has been reported in the last 24 hours out of 235 samples tested.All the samples tested were from Chennai Returnees. Positive. : 94 Active. : 94 Recovered : 00 Death. : 00".

The first COVID-19 cases were detected in the state on May 25 when three persons, two men and one woman, who returned on the Shramik special train from Chennai in Tamil Nadu on May 22, tested positive for the novel coronavirus.
